Barren Woman [17 Jul 2005|05:13am]
Empty, I echo to the least footfall,
Museum without statues, grand with pillars, porticoes, rotundas.
In my courtyard a fountain leaps and sinks back into itself,
Nun-hearted and blind to the world. Marble lilies
Exhale their pallor like scent.

I imagine myself with a great public,
Mother of a white Nike and several bald-eyed Apollos.
Insread, the dead injure me attentions, and nothing can happen.
Blank-faced and mum as a nurse.

- Sylvia Plath

i will be the pig with the apple in my mouth
the fruit that celebrates your end

+

two hours to celebrating two decades of my existence. achievements: deleted. aspirations: boundless.

+

remember when i moved in you
the holy dove was moving too
and every breath we drew was hallelujah

+

an anomaly - an austere figure, an austere life, an austere style - severe.

Cheated of the pyre and the rack,
The crowd sucks her last tear and turns away.

i can't stop you from hating me. but when you stop hating me, i'll be here. still.

The Science of Singing Technique [15 Jul 2005|02:29pm]
We have a new course specially dedicated to the Science of Singing. Beginning September 3rd 2005 and running for 5 Saturdays from 4pm to 6pm, The Science of Singing is a very intensive hands-on course which teaches fundamental singing technique and how to take care of the voice properly in the process. It is more of a "how-to-perform it-correctly" course, rather than a "children-what-shall-we-sing-today" course.

We call it "The Science of Singing" because of its focus of learning – ie. participants will be introduced to the science and technical aspects of learning to sing correctly and effectively…which ultimately will lead to a beautifully controlled singing sound from within.

As is our practice, the course will be specially tailored to your needs, wants and familiarity with singing, with help from your individual feedback prior to the class itself. As such, the course is ideal both for singing veterans and greenhorns alike!

Among the skills and techniques taught in this course will be:

(1)Anatomy for Breathing and Singing
Learn to "sing from the diaphragm" - the cliche that is seldom explained - fully, clearly, and with concrete explanation.
(2)Exercises to build muscles for breathing and singing
(3) Application of Alexander's Technique in Singing
(4) Correct tone production and voice placement
(5) Vocal Resonance, Projection and Power
(6) Understanding and Negotiating Vocal Registers
(7) Correct speech technique for vocal health

Singing is a very physical activity and this course thus requires participants to do physical exercises, lie on the studio floor, etc, so appropriate attire is requested (no skirts, no high heels, no thick and tight clothing like jeans, and possibly no low neck lines for modesty in some exercises) - dance attire is good, being loose and
comfortable.

As the 5 lessons are inter-connected, participants MUST start from the first session and not come into the course in the middle of it. If they miss any session, they will not have the required technical knowledge to enjoy the following session and will have to do the next course)

It is also essential that participants bring writing material to take notes – for maximum benefit.

This is a 10-hour course and the enrolment / class size has to be kept to a maximum of 8 for maximum benefit of all.

However, the Management reserves the sole right to cancel or postpone this class if there are insufficient participants 1 week prior to commencement.

For more information on the instructor, course fees and how to enjoy the Early Bird discount of 15%, please email chinesewallflowerATgmailDOTcom.

We look forward to helping you unravel the mysteries of the Science of Singing!

72 pages into robert kiyosaki's rich dad's business school and i am utterly inspired and enlightened. there are three sorts of education one can excel in - scholastic, professional and financial - and i intend to excel in them all. i will build a business that grows into a network, not a john wayne. i will relearn and refine the art of selling. i have 10 years to amass my first million, and 18 years to retirement.

if you believe in me, and want to get rich with me, i want to know you. email me - chinesewallflowerATgmailDOTcom.

when you die, the ants will come, beckoning their brethren to the harvest, then the flies, enticed by the come-hither whiff of lush deathliness. in the right circumstances you will receive maggots - they will join the rain dance, and all shall feast like peasants at a fete. when you die only your flesh matters, and after that nothing else will. you will die brittle as calcium, just like your soul.

dont judge something you don't know about - and probably will never experience.

listening to teresa teng at 5am is mythical. it simply transcends time. sitting in the hall with a pillow, blanket, vodka and cigarettes at 5am on a wednesday morning is otherworldly. but you are utopian - and simply perfect.

the charity shows - are they vicious cycles of sponsorship and advertisement, accelerated by idolatry and sympathy?

why such intrinsic difference and intimacy between protection and protectionism?

which is worse - silence from those who really matter; or caustic words from those who dont really matter propelled by (A) myopia or (B) cynicism? i shall not propogate virtual sparring. fights are only won in the flesh. though i wished it could be otherwise, and i still wish it would, the fact remains that you hate me vicariously - in all senses of the word.

reciprocity is beauty. the best and worst thing about us is that we believe in our invincibility. the undeniable fact is that in ourselves we are invincible. this, this defies all set boundaries. this defies everything.

nothing - only words [09 Jul 2005|08:36pm]
where did i go wrong?
i should have told you from the start
and i'm closer than you think when we're apart

all the times we shared - photographs make us ache because we thought those days would last forever. we wanted them to last forever. and we can't come to terms with the fact that sometimes we dont know everything, and that not everything is permanent nor reconciliable. we mourn because we believed in eternity - we reify grief. we know nothing is forever; but many things feel like forever. many things feel like they should last forever. this coming from an imperfect human being: permanence is overrated.

but its usually the only thing that keeps us going.

i kept your secrets - i still keep them. even when everything imploded. what happened to the other side of the story? or are the incarcerated forever silenced? i can still see you as a friend, as an individual, in spite of what you do. because in true friendship actions maketh not the man. it is the bond. the importance of friendship - the loss of those who've left, and the purity of those who've stayed. never underestimate it.

living from high to high, bottoming is painful. my life is a speedy intellectual ascent, but a gradual downward emotional maelstrom. guess who has a disproportionately developed psyche.

i will start afresh.

to give closure, to end this chapter, to let this be my last words to you - because you deserve to hear it.

i'll hide forever - i cant face the shame.
